Innovation for town centres and high streets from all around the UK will be coming to Hastings on September 10 in a free event designed to showcase what adding technology to ‘people power’ can achieve in a community.
This event to be held at the Sussex Room, White Rock Theatre from 9.30 is being delivered by Revive & Thrive a UK wide town centre regeneration organisation in partnership with Hastings Town Centre Management. Sponsored by Reward Your World this event will discuss what technologies and solutions can be implemented to build a high street of the future allowing it to compete, defend and promote itself on an equal footing with possible threats from online and out of town retail.
Mark Barnes, Managing Director of Revive & Thrive Ltd said “I am extremely excited about delivering this event in my hometown of Hastings. There is an exciting future for towns and cities who embrace technology, understand the needs of their residents and visitors as well as how to engage with them. When you add this to the ‘people power’ that Hastings has demonstrated with the pier a lot can be achieved”
Hastings Town Centre Manager, Rob Woods said “The progress made in Hastings over the last ten years has been exceptional. If we are to keep the momentum going, both public and private sectors need to be aware of technological and other developments that will enhance the town’s performance and benefit everyone in it. The varied agenda will inform and educate and I look forward to hosting this important Innovation event in conjunction with Revive and Thrive”
The event will hear from guest speakers such as Jeremy Birch, Leader Hastings Borough Council, Simon Opie, Hastings People’s Pier and Gavin Stewart, Brighton Business Improvement District Manager. CEO of Reward Your World, Daniel Gipple, will be running a lively and interactive workshop discussing key challenges and opportunities for town centre and high streets.
As well as discussing new technologies such as e-commerce, digital communication tools, click and collect, augmented reality, incentivisation programmes etc the event will also address the need for training and for a high street to feel safe and look inviting.
